Bentley Torcal First Edition Adds Carbon Fiber, Luxury Features and 875 HP

A performance edition built around presentation

Bentley’s first special edition for the all-electric Torcal changes the way the SUV is equipped and finished while leaving its 875-hp powertrain intact. Announced a month after the model’s debut, the First Edition initially sits at the top of the range. Bentley hasn’t announced a price or production total, so buyers can’t yet tell how much the extra equipment will cost or whether the badge will mark a genuinely scarce model. For now, the distinction is clear in the specification, but its commercial significance isn’t.

That approach gives the edition a familiar role in the luxury-car market: it packages selected design and comfort features into a more distinctive version without changing the core engineering. The distinction matters because the Torcal’s headline performance figures already belong to the standard mechanical package shared with the Torcal S. This isn’t a more powerful flagship. It’s a presentation-led version of an SUV whose performance credentials are already near the center of its pitch.

Power and charging remain unchanged

The First Edition uses the Torcal S’s 113-kWh battery, two electric motors and 800-volt electrical system. Together, those components deliver 875 horsepower and 996 lb-ft (1,350 Nm) of torque when launch control is engaged. Bentley says the SUV can accelerate to 62 mph (100 kph) in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 162 mph (260 kph). Those are ambitious figures for a large luxury SUV, though they describe the drivetrain’s capability rather than a unique benefit of the First Edition.

Charging is another part of the specification Bentley is emphasizing. DC charging peaks at 400 kW, and the company says a 10-to-80 percent charge takes less than 20 minutes. That figure depends on conditions and charging equipment, details the announcement doesn’t provide. Still, the stated peak gives a useful indication of the electrical system’s intended pace; in practice, the headline number alone won’t tell buyers how often they’ll see that rate.

This is more significant than it looks: Bentley hasn’t had to invent a new performance story to make the edition feel special. Instead, it’s relying on materials, finish and equipment to distinguish the car, while retaining figures that can already carry the conversation. That keeps the mechanical case straightforward. The open question is whether the added cabin and exterior details justify a premium once pricing is disclosed.

An electric alternative to the Bentayga

The Torcal could give buyers considering a gas-powered Bentayga another option within Bentley’s SUV lineup. That comparison is useful, but the available details here don’t establish how the vehicles differ in price, range or everyday practicality. The Torcal’s electric drivetrain and rapid charging claim give it a distinct technical profile; buyers will still need the missing ownership details to judge how well it fits their routines.

The Torcal was unveiled in September, and the First Edition arrives a month later. Its name and position at the top of the range may suggest a launch-period role, but Bentley hasn’t said whether production will be limited or for how long it’ll be offered. That uncertainty matters. A special badge can imply exclusivity, yet without a production figure, availability remains an open question.

Carbon fiber outside, bespoke finishes inside

Carbon fiber appears on the front bumper winglets, mirror caps, side sills and rear diffuser. The most visible change is a set of 22-inch wheels finished in black and Liquid Silver, with self-leveling Bentley badges at their centers. Graphene Grey brake calipers add another contrasting detail behind the spokes. The package is deliberate, but its effect is mainly visual: Bentley hasn’t described a change to the vehicle’s underlying performance from these additions.

Inside, buyers can choose between two Mulliner color splits, eight accent colors and an optional third interior color. Full leather and contrast stitching are also available. Those choices put customization at the center of the edition’s appeal, although the announcement doesn’t spell out which combinations are included in the price or what options will cost. If you’re working in this space, that’s the practical detail to watch: a broad palette can sound generous, but the final bill depends on how the choices are packaged.

Standard equipment includes gloss carbon fiber trim and deep-pile floor mats, along with Wellness front seats that offer heating, ventilation and massage. Rear Comfort Seats are included as well. Taken together, the list points to a cabin designed to make the First Edition feel differentiated in daily use, not merely identifiable from the curb. Comfort features have a more immediate effect on passengers than exterior trim does. A long specification, though, still needs to be weighed against the price Bentley eventually sets.

The Frosted Diamond Switchable Sunroof can move from opaque to clear. Powered front and rear doors and a 28-speaker, 1,780-watt Naim audio system with Dolby Atmos round out the standard features. That’s a substantial collection of equipment on paper, particularly for buyers who value cabin technology and passenger comfort. And this is the part most people overlook: a feature list can establish what’s included, but it can’t show how well those systems work in ordinary use.

What the First Edition badge tells buyers

Bentley has used the First Edition name before, including on the Mulsanne. Other brands have applied the label to models such as the Dodge Charger, Ford Bronco and Lexus IS. The label alone doesn’t tell buyers whether an edition is limited, how it’ll be priced or whether its equipment will later appear elsewhere in the range.

For the Torcal, the draw is a rich equipment list paired with the existing high-performance drivetrain. That gives Bentley a clear way to differentiate an early version of the SUV without claiming a mechanical upgrade. The numbers here are underwhelming as a measure of what’s new: the power and charging specifications belong to the Torcal S package, while the edition’s distinctiveness rests on trim and amenities.

That said, the package could still appeal to buyers who want a more individualized cabin and a fuller equipment list from the outset. What this means for you is fairly simple: the First Edition’s value will depend on the price, the final option structure and whether Bentley limits availability. Until those details arrive, it’s a well-equipped version with an open question attached. Exclusivity, perhaps.
